Tobacco kills 73,000 people each year in France. On the basis of this alarming observation and given the large number of smokers (13 million), the Ministry of Health set up three months ago the "one month without tobacco" operation.
In Corsica, the figures are just as alarming with a lung cancer mortality rate well above the national average. On the order of 12% for men and 27% for women!

Create a strong momentum
To create a strong momentum around this operation, the National Association of Prevention in Alcoology and Addictology of Corsica (ANPAA) was chosen as ambassador ambassadorship structure responsible for promoting this campaign to partners and actors. This year, more than thirty companies, associations, local authorities and administrations responded.
"This campaign aims to raise awareness, in general, of people and of course help those who wish to quit, explains Angélique Baudin, project manager in prevention and promotion of health, We strive to disseminate, at best, information on free consultations regarding smokers, information centers, free hypnosis. But you have to know that prevention is done on the ground. Smoking is about smokers, their families but also non-smokers (passive smoking) »
All the health-related organizations are partners in this operation, notably the ARS (which is piloting and managing the initiative), Ligue Corse contre le Cancer
Many operations continue, so until November 30:
Information booth at smoking cessation at La Poretta Gallery in Porto-Vecchio (Tuesday 20), at Carrefour Market in Porticcio (Thursday 22), Carrefour d'Ajaccio (Friday 23)
ANPAA stand at the BD Festival (Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th in Ajaccio)
Information booth of the Corsica League against cancer (Monday 26th at the Casino de Moriani and Tuesday 27th at the Casino de Corte …
Hoping that they can, little by little, encourage the abandonment of the scourge of cigarettes …
