Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide hydrate, or more commonly known as NADH, has many benefits and is used globally to help help and prevent numerous conditions. NADH Is a natural occurring molecule which is found in the body, but NADH production within the body declines with age so to keep NADH in the body people are advised to take the supplement.
One of the benefits of using NADH is that it helps with depression. Depression is a common mental illness, which is said to effect 1 in 10 people at some point in their life. When you are depressed you often have no energy and forever have the feeling of being tired and unable to sleep. NADH has been proven to increase energy levels which will make you more lively and more active which will keep you going for longer. Having more energy will improve your ability to work. Caffeine and the other stimulants release adrenaline (also called epinephrine) from the nerve cells. This triggers a quick boost in adrenaline. You are less tired and more alert. However, it is only for a very short time. The next coffee will not give you the same boost as the first one because your adrenaline pool in the nerve cells has been emptied. NADH on the other hand stimulates the biosynthesis of adrenaline and due to this fills the pool of adrenaline in the central nervous system. This is the essential prerequisite for caffeine to become active.
NADH is also the only substance, which has been shown to improve cellular energy. Coffee, and all of the so-called ‘energy drinks’, do not increase cellular energy. In fact they do nothing but release adrenaline from nerve cells and are therefore mere stimulants. Too much and too high stimulation can cause considerable side effects or adverse reactions such as irregular heartbeat.
NADH is also used to help Alzheimer’s disease by improving memory. Memory can be defined as the storage of information, signals, and stimuli received by our five senses and the retrieval of this stored information. The major prerequisite for memory is cognition. Cognition is the process of receiving signals from outside the body. Therefore, NADH can effectively enhance memory. NADH has been shown to improve cognitive impairment. In an PDA‐approved, double blind, placebo controlled study performed at Georgetown University Medical Centre, it was found that patients with dementia of the type found in Alzheimer’s disease showed a statistically significant Improvement after six months of treatment using 10 mg dosage daily. Patients treated with NADH showed no evidence of progressive cognitive decline during the period of treatment and demonstrated significant improvement on measures of memory, verbal fluency, and visual perceptual problem solving. These results support the use of NADH as part of the Alzheimer’s disease treatment program. The results may reflect improving energy metabolism in damaged but still viable brain cells.
Alternatively Nadh has been found to dramatically help the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease which effects about one million people over the age of 50. The symptoms of Parkinson’s disease are caused by a deficit in one of the most important messenger substances of the central nervous system, dopamine. This neurotransmitter is responsible for muscle tone and strength, upright position, libido, and emotional drive. This dopamine deficiency is reflected by the three major symptoms of Parkinson’s disease: akinesia (inability to move), rigidity (stiffness), and tremors (shaking). These symptoms should not be ignored, as there is a reasonable and efficient treatment for Parkinson’s disease, and life expectancy can be normal if the appropriate treatment is given. It has been shown in a number of studies that NADH is able to stimulate the production of dopamine naturally. On the other hand many people are suffering with high blood pressure leading to sudden heart attacks. So along with the many other uses NADH has been proven to help with high blood pressure (Hyper tension) clinical studies of patients taking NADH / Co-E1® for other medical conditions, blood pressure data was also collected. The studies indicated a trend for blood pressure to decrease in the patients taking NADH. The interpretation of the blood pressure data was so exciting, a double blind, placebo controlled, research study was funded to establish whether the blood pressure lowering effects of NADH can be confirmed.
To some extent, the cholesterol level in blood depends on what you eat, but it is mainly dependent on how the body makes cholesterol in the liver.
