Having a family and kids of her own has always been a woman’s ultimate dream in life. Nothing could ever take the place of the joy a child brings. However, getting pregnant for a woman is never that easy especially if one is suffering from endometriosis and infertility. It is best therefore for women who are trying to conceive to have an ample knowledge and awareness of this condition.
An estimated 40% of women are coping with this condition and medical research and study confirm it with the growing cases of infertility. In many recorded cases, it seems that endometriosis and infertility go hand in hand.
The former appears to be the cause and the latter the effect. It replicates the menstrual cycle from the outside causing an offshoot of unwanted shedding of endometrial tissues attaching itself in the abdominal cavity affecting the uterus’ fallopian tubal area and the ovaries.
Prostaglandin, a hormone in the uterine lining induces cramp and releases pain around the abdominal and pelvic regions. Scarring and thickening of the uterine lining will eventually lead to unwanted masses or cysts due to the blood discharges while endometriosis imitates the menstrual cycle.
These discharges have nowhere else to exit so they abnormally attach themselves to the ovaries and fallopian tubes thereby causing blockade. This deter the egg to transport from the ovaries through the fallopian tubes resulting to non-ovulation.
A complete examination and check up, with the proper diagnosis of one’s physician will determine the level of endometriosis and infertility. A laparoscopy, an out-patient surgical procedure will identify the proper treatment and medication to correct the problem. A regiment of fruits and vegetables together with the right amount of exercise will ease the condition.
Normally 5 to 10% of women with this condition are able to conceive and get pregnant. However, age plays an important role in determining infertility. With the advent of advanced state of the art medical technology, certain specialized treatments and procedures are now available to address such sensitive condition.
