The Boston Medical Center Rooftop Farm is a proposed project

Order Greenroof and Greenwall at the top of the world by ordering here:

One of the 50 greenest hospitals in America voted, Boston Medical Center (or BMC) is the largest safety net hospital and level I trauma center in New England. BMC is naturally suitable for a roof farm that has a strong commitment to a green town and an integrated approach to health. Boston Medical Medical is the first building of the Boston Medical Center on the roof of the lower BMC power plant building. The total roof area is 7,000 sq. M. The farm started as Dave Maffeo, senior director of support, and Robert Biggio, senior vice president of facilities and support services, with support from BMC Development Office. Dave worked with Lindsay Allen, who is now head of the BMC Roof Farm, and John Stoddard of the Higher Agriculture, to find a roofing and growing system that meets BMC's needs.

The farm was designed and equipped by Recovery Green roofs. Designed to create maximum growth potential, a modular raised bed system, Recovery Aerodynamic Media Module (or RAMM) was installed. Each individual modular box comes with an organic Vermont Compost medium, remotely monitors the intelligent irrigation system and a durable roof membrane protection. BMC Rooftop Farm cultivates a wide range of organic vegetables and herbs, and has two hives painted in a youth patient hospital. Habitats are polluted by 75% of the bee, and there are between 80,000 and 100,000 bees in each hive. In the second growing season, the farm grew from 5,000 to 7,000 pounds of fresh produce with less than 3,000 cubic feet of growing space. In addition, the farm offers many great opportunities to train patients and organize events for volunteers and community children. The Boston Medical Center Roof Farm not only provides fresh, local produce to hospitals, cafes, The Teaching Kitchen, and Preventive Food Pantry, but also has a shared BMC commitment to go green.
