But he advises: "Sexuality should not be considered as a sports program." During sex, about 200 calories are burned. During sex, some hormones are released. The happy hormones dopamine, serotonin and endorphins stimulate the brain.

Endorphins even act as an endogenous analgesic. "Good sex is a recommended medical procedure with pleasant side effects if you have a headache," writes the gynecologist. The so-called oxytocin, a binding hormone, is released during orgasm and ensures a closer bond with the partner. The body produces it even with intimate glances.

In men, the hormone is released in abundance, which can cause them to fall asleep shortly after intercourse. In addition, his brain releases luteinizing hormone, which stimulates testosterone formation in the testes. The male sex hormone stimulates the burning of fat and promotes muscle growth.

What are the positive qualities of body fluids?

Each kiss ensures the formation of a larger amount of saliva – this protects the teeth and gums from caries and periodontal disease. About 400 bacteria are exchanged during a kiss. Among them, there is virtually no pathogen, but good bacteria that support the immune system and thus ensure a healthier body.

Male sperm contains many vitamins, proteins and testosterone. The hormone is absorbed by the vaginal skin during intercourse and increases the libido of the woman, explains the gynecologist. A substance called spermidine "is one of the most promising anti-aging ingredients". The substance stimulates "the elimination and recycling of molecular waste in cells". The brain benefits in particular: it causes the agglutination of protein waste in beta-amyloid plaques, which are the essential basis of Alzheimer's dementia. By the way, spermidine is not only contained in sperm, it is also found in foods such as cheese, wheat bran and soy.

If the partner is missing

If you do not have a partner or partner, you must not do without sex. Even masturbation is healthy: in the body, in principle, the same hormonal reactions occur as in the partners, says Kleine-Gunk.

One study even found that men between the ages of 20 and 50 reduced their risk of prostate cancer by masturbating five times a week. The reason: "The more the line is rinsed, the less it remains, which damages the cells."

What changes in old age

With menopause ends the reproductive capacity of the woman. But that should not be a disadvantage for the sex life, the fear of unwanted pregnancies disappears, for example. This can make it painful and difficult for the man to invade the woman. The expert advises to provide estrogen, either with suppositories or with a cream. The gynecologist recommends pelvic floor exercises to train the muscles. If that does not help, surgery is an alternative.

Small-Gunk advises alleged sources of power such as Tigerpenissen, rhinoceros horn or extracts of the Spanish fly's beetle. They are still ineffective and the beetle extract is even poisonous. In contrast, Viagra is effective – in addition to increasing potency, it also protects against heart attacks and Alzheimer's disease. Sex in old age: does not create pressure

Important for sex in the elderly: if sex becomes a commitment, the health benefits disappear. Do not pressurize and "if the joints hurt you, you do not have to go through the Kamasutra." If you are tired of having sex, you do not have to worry – you have to accept "if someone does not care about sex," says Kleine-Gunk.
