About the different types of pulmonary emphysema (COPD, alpha-1, senile emphysema) Dr. med. med. Dr. Dürer. nat. Robert Bals, Director of the Department of Internal Medicine V (Department of Pneumology, Allergology and Respiratory Medicine) of the Medical Center of the University of Saarland, speaking at his presentation at the Lung Symposium 2019.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has many aspects of the onset of the disease and the severity of symptoms, including a variable course. For a better diagnosis, and in particular a personalized therapy, it would be very important to know more about the different types of COPD.
By precisely analyzing the development and characterization of individual phenotypes, it will also be possible in the field of COPD to create greatly improved diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities. In particular, it is important to identify early forms of COPD and then explain to those concerned that quitting smoking is an important measure. In addition, drugs will be developed to slow the progression of the disease. In particular, regenerative medicine will play a major role in the future.
As every year, the centerpiece of the congress consists of 10 lectures given by renowned respirologists, who present patient-specific reports on the various diseases, the diagnostic procedures as well as the measures of treatment and prophylaxis. The lectures will be followed by a question-and-answer session with experts who will answer written questions submitted by visitors during the day.
In addition, in parallel with the conferences, five workshops will be proposed on the following topics:
"Respiratory therapy, traveling with long-term oxygen therapy, rehabilitation pathways, COPD and diet, bronchiectasis".
Questions during the workshops are welcome.
In addition, various services will be offered free of charge as part of the extensive accompanying commercial exhibition.
The congress program can be ordered free of charge here:
